The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based position focused on traveling to customer sites to educate and support healthcare professionals on CEUS. Responsibilities include delivering clinical presentations, conducting product evaluations, and providing ongoing clinical support. The MSL ensures all activities are performed compliantly, uses sound judgment, and escalates issues as needed to the Department Head.

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) serves as a scientific and clinical expert for Contrast Enhanced Ultrasound (CEUS) in the field, supporting healthcare professionals through education, training, and collaborative scientific exchange. The MSL delivers evidence-based presentations, facilitates product evaluations, and provides ongoing clinical and technical support to ensure optimal patient outcomes. This role bridges clinical practice and company strategy by building strong relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), institutions, and professional organizations, while ensuring all activities comply with applicable regulations, SOPs, and ethical standards.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Field-Based Scientific Support:

  • Serve as the primary scientific resource for CEUS in assigned territory.
  • Provide in-depth, evidence-based medical and scientific information to healthcare professionals, including physicians, sonographers, radiologists, and cardiologists.
  •  Conduct in-service education and hands-on training for Lumason administration and optimal imaging techniques.

Customer Engagement & Education:

  • Proactively engage with KOLs, professional societies, and clinical stakeholders through congress participation, site visits, and remote meetings.
  • Build and maintain scientific relationships to support clinical adoption and best practices in CEUS.
  • Mentor internal teams (e.g., LCAS) on CEUS product administration and imaging optimization.

Content Development & Delivery:

  • Collaborate with Medical Affairs to develop educational materials, FAQs, and clinical tools.
  •  Deliver presentations at scientific meetings, workshops, and customer sites.

Clinical Support & Evaluation:

  • Facilitate product evaluations in collaboration with customers, ensuring high-quality implementation and follow-up.
  •  Prepare detailed post-visit reports, capturing key learnings, insights, and next steps.

Compliance & Reporting:

  • Identify and report adverse events and product quality complaints in accordance with SOPs and timelines.
  •  Ensure all activities are compliant with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical guidelines.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with internal stakeholders in Sales, Marketing, and Medical Affairs to align field activities with strategic objectives.
  • Support special projects and initiatives as directed by leadership.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare, life sciences, or related field (required)
  • Advanced Cardiac Sonographer certification (preferred)
  • FASE – Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography (preferred, plus)
  • Equivalent combination of education and extensive CEUS experience will be considered

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant industry or clinical experience in echocardiography, radiology CEUS, or ultrasound imaging.
  • Strong knowledge of both cardiac and non-cardiac CEUS applications.
  • Proven ability to engage and educate healthcare professionals in a scientific capacity.
  • Experience with OEM ultrasound equipment and optimization techniques.
  • Expertise in interpreting and communicating clinical and scientific data.
  • Demonstrated success in building peer-level relationships with KOLs and professional organizations.
  • Exceptional presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and digital collaboration tools.
  • Active participation in professional societies such as ASE, ICUS, RDCS, or SDMS preferred.
  • Maintain clinical, scientific, and technical expertise in CEUS through the review of scientific journals and attendance at scientific meetings.
  • Industry experience includes a minimum of at least five years in either/or:
  • Ultrasound certification and/or education required (Certified CVIS and Sonographer – Cardiac, Radiology, or equivalent)
  •  MSL experience and leadership in CEUS or cardiac/radiology ultrasound equipment
  •  Cardiac sonographer/nursing position with CEUS experience in a hospital or cardiovascular imaging center
  •  A minimum of two years successful sales experience on BDI CEUS team (or equivalent for an external candidate)
  • Participation in American College of Echocardiography (ASE), Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography (RDCS), and/or Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS) affiliations.
  • Advanced presentation and computer skills.
