Job Purpose:
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based scientific professional who serves as an extension of the Medical Affairs organization. The MSL works throughout a product's lifecycle, helping to ensure that products are utilized safely and effectively, serves as a scientific resource within the medical community, establishes, develops, cultivates and maintains peer-to-eer relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) at major academic institutions and clinics and is a scientific expert to internal colleagues at the company. The primary responsibility of the MSL is the balanced exchange of medical information and education with KOL’s and health care professionals (HCPs) involved with the disease states Pharmacosmos currently has approved treatments or is involved in drug development. The role of an MSL is non-promotional in nature. The MSL works to shape patient care through Pharmacosmos’ medicines, research and health economic activities.
The Central Region covers the following geography: UT, CO, KS, NE, IA, MO, TN, MS, WY and KY.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The MSL is expected to:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive clinical acumen related to PTI therapeutic areas of interest to support pipeline and marketed PTI products
- Identify, develop, and engage Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) within regional territory to support US and global Medical Affairs initiatives
- Lead scientific discussions, leveraging both the clinical and economic (HEOR) totality of evidence for PTI products, with regional population health decision makers and other key stakeholders to broaden awareness of PTI therapies and to support accurate EHR integration in clinical pathways, formularies, and order sets
- Collect actionable insights for internal stakeholders to inform, adjust, or validate existing PTI strategies and tactics
- Represent PTI at high priority conferences, professional association meetings, and other events to identify emerging trends and maximize scientific discussion with external stakeholders
- Respond to unsolicited medical information requests (MIRFs) with appropriate documentation
- Facilitate the submission and review of unsolicited Investigator Sponsored Studies (ISSs) in alignment with evidence generation and publication plans
- Engage KOL pool to support critical medical affairs activities, inclusive of advisory boards, publications, research, and peer-to-peer educational activities
Education & Professional Background:
- The qualified candidate will have a doctoral degree in a health sciences related field such as a PharmD, DNP, MD or PhD, with a thorough grasp of the pharmaceutical industry.
- 1-2 years of related work experience (academic, research, clinician, consulting, or industry experience).
- Proven experience building KOL relationships or related therapeutic area with established track record of developing relationships with top tier medical experts.
- Previous experience of working within Hematology/Oncology preferred.
- Knowledge of the PhRMA, OIG and other relevant guidelines.
- Good understanding of the clinical development process and the ICH-GCP guidelines.
