Job Description

The Supervising Specialty Operations Pharmacist plays a critical leadership role within our central specialty pharmacy, overseeing complex patient management programs and prescription support services. This position is responsible for guiding and mentoring a team of licensed pharmacy professionals and healthcare staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.

You will lead programs designed to monitor patient progress toward desired health outcomes through routine assessments and evaluations, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards. The role includes direct oversight of daily operations, scheduling, and workflow optimization across disease-specific programs to maintain consistency and excellence in care delivery.

This position requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a passion for improving patient experiences in a dynamic specialty pharmacy environment.

Qualifications & Experience:

 Required

  • Active and unrestricted Pharmacist license in Ohio, Arizona, Texas, Florida
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy or PharmD.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of pharmacy leadership experience
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year working in a remote setting

 Preferred

  • Experience: Specialty Pharmacy |Clinical Programs | Pharma Compliance
  • Knowledge: Specialty Medications | Complex Therapies | Specialty Pharmacy Accreditation standards

Key Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership & Oversight: Provide direct supervision and support to licensed pharmacy personnel, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.

• Compliance and adherence to state and federal regulations

• Hiring & Talent Development: Lead the hiring, training, and development of pharmacy professionals, ensuring team members are equipped to excel in their roles.

• Policy & Procedure Management: Develop, implement, and approve policies to optimize workflow, maintain compliance, and improve overall efficiency.

• Operational Monitoring: Oversee daily work queues, track performance metrics, and ensure timely and accurate prescription verification.

• Scheduling & Workload Management: Develop and manage staff schedules to align with business needs while maintaining operational efficiency.

• Cost-to-Fill Optimization: Monitor and implement strategies to optimize pharmacy costs while maintaining quality and compliance.

• Accreditation & Quality Improvement: Support pharmacy accreditation efforts and lead continuous quality improvement initiatives.

• Team Communication & Engagement: Conduct regular team meetings to provide updates, share best practices, and address any challenges.

• Project Management: Participate in and lead pharmacy-related projects aimed at improving workflow, compliance, and patient safety.

Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


 

$126,300 - $173,700 per year


 

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
