Overall Purpose:

As a Medical Science Liaison (MSL), you will serve as a vital link between our company and healthcare professionals, providing scientific and medical support for our product and impactful insights to the company. You will be responsible for building and maintaining long-term relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) in the optometry and ophthalmology community, disseminating scientific information, and contributing to medical initiatives. The MSL plays a crucial role in ensuring that eye care providers have accurate and up-to-date information about our products and therapeutic area. MSLs will report to the National MSL Director.

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with KOLs, academic institutions, and healthcare organizations, acting as a liaison between LENZ and the eye care community.
  • Serve as a scientific expert on our product and therapeutic area, providing medical and scientific information to eye care providers through interactions, presentations, conferences, and other engagements.
  • Identify and collect impactful and actionable insights for internal stakeholders.
  • Respond to unsolicited inquiries from healthcare professionals regarding our products, clinical trials, therapeutic area, and medical literature.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, and Commercial, to support product development and launch activities.
  • Provide medical education and training to internal stakeholders, including commercial and marketing teams, and serve as a medical expert within the company and eye care community.
  • Stay abreast of developments in the medical, scientific, and eye care community, including competitor activities, clinical trials, and treatment guidelines.
  • Contribute to the development of medical and scientific resources, including slide decks and publications.
  • Travel Requirements: 60-70% or more inside the assigned territory and to national, regional, and local conferences/events.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Advanced degree (OD, MD, PhD, or equivalent) in a life sciences field required.
  • Previous ophthalmology experience as an MSL or in a related field (e.g., medical affairs, clinical care) preferred.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate scientific and medical information to diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to travel within the assigned territory and occasionally nationally.
  • Strong understanding of clinical research methodology, biostatistics, and regulatory requirements.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Typically works in an office environment. May, on a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time, intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed. Frequent out-of-town travel may be required. Salary Range

  • 190-210k DOE
