Position Summary

The Clinical Pharmacist provides flexible, as-needed clinical and operational support across the AON network. This role assists the Clinical Pharmacy Services Manager, Regional Clinical Pharmacists, and pharmacy leadership with project-based work, clinical reviews, formulary and EMR updates, transitions of care, and short-term coverage needs. The pharmacist contributes to the execution of clinical initiatives, supports quality and safety standards, and ensures continuity of pharmacy operations across the network.

Key Performance Areas

KPA 1 – Clinical & Project-Based Support

  • Support clinical pharmacy projects, including formulary evaluations, P&T preparation, drug monographs, regimen updates, and communication writing.

  • Assist with rollout of new clinical initiatives, workflows, guideline updates, and network-wide education.

  • Provide support during Regional Clinical Pharmacist PTO, high-volume periods, or site transitions.

KPA 2 – Patient Care & Clinical Review

  • Perform therapeutic reviews and provide evidence-based recommendations to prescribers.

  • Assist with therapeutic substitutions, prior authorization support, and formulary alignment.

  • Provide consultation regarding adverse event management, drug interactions, and oncology/specialty medication questions.

KPA 3 – Formulary, EMR, & Technology Support

  • Assist with maintaining and validating treatment plans, order sets, and formulary updates within OncoEMR or related systems.

  • Support new builds or modifications in collaboration with Clinical Informatics and Regional Clinical Pharmacists.

  • Participate in drug utilization reviews, data checks, and validation of clinical technology tools.

KPA 4 – Communication, Education & Resource Development

  • Develop or update clinical resources, mixing charts, workflows, and tip sheets.

  • Assist with education for providers, nurses, and pharmacists on new therapies or safety updates.

  • Support preparation of clinical presentations and network communications.

KPA 5 – Operational Support

  • Assist pharmacy operations with AON clinic transitions, technology deployment, and workflow optimization.

  •  Collaborate with analytics teams to support data validation or project-specific reporting. 

  • Perform additional clinical or operational duties as assigned to support safe and efficient patient care.


Position Qualifications

Education

  • PharmD degree or bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, required.

Certifications/Licenses

  • Active, unrestricted pharmacist license in good standing.

  • Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP) preferred but not required

  • PGY1/PGY2 residency training preferred but not required.

Minimum Relevant Experience

  • Minimum 2–3 years of clinical oncology or specialty pharmacy experience required.

  • Experience with EMR order set build, drug substitution/interchange protocols, and data analytics preferred
